How BTU Calculation Works
BTU (British Thermal Unit) measures cooling capacity. The right BTU ensures your room cools efficiently without wasting energy.
Malaysia's tropical climate requires ~25% more cooling capacity than temperate countries. Our calculator includes this adjustment automatically.
Rule of thumb: In Malaysia, you need about 500 BTU per square metre (with the tropical adjustment, it's ~625 BTU/m²).
- Small bedroom (10m²): ~7,000 BTU (1.0 HP)
- Master bedroom (15m²): ~10,000 BTU (1.5 HP)
- Living room (25m²): ~16,000 BTU (2.0 HP)
- Large hall (35m²+): ~22,000 BTU (2.5 HP)
